In this course sequence alignments are only used to support homology
modelling, but be aware, please, that many other things can be done with
sequnce alignments too.

Sequence alignments are at the basis of homology modelling, but they can also be used for other purposes; like finding out which residues are functionally important. And remember, when a residue is conserved, it is important.

Sometimes you can use correlated behaviour in multiple sequnce alignmnets to lear about functions of residues.
