All scientific aspects of the course can be found at swift.cmbi.umcn.nl/teach/B1SEM/

This website holds all material for the bioinformatics seminar series, including the seminars, material for the practicals, test exams, etc. The website has many words hyperlinked to a Wiki that gives very low-level explanations. If you think you (or the course in general...) would benefit from adding an explanation for a certain term or concept, please mail that to the teacher and that word gets placed on the top of the todo list for the Wiki.

At the end of the LAY-OUT list you find a ′Canon′. This canon holds many of the words and terms that you do not need to learn by hearth, but that I simply expect you to passively know at the exam. So, if the exam holds the term CSD, then you are supposed to know what that is, but you will neither be asked what CSD is an abbreviation of, nor what is the name of the small molecule database often used for Force Field design.

Literature

Two articles are provided at the bottom of this paragraph. The first article is the written equivalent of the homology modelling seminar, and is exam material. The second one is about structure validation. The paragraphs in this article that deal with topics discussed in the seminars are exam material.

  1. Homology modelling article
  2. Structure validation article

These articles are book chapters. We never received the very latest versions of these PDFs, so you will need to think around some questions from the editors for the authors. If you do not like this, you are obviously free to buy the books...
